TYPES OF VEHICLE STORAGE
My Storage Group offers three types of vehicle storage: indoor, outdoor, and covered. With different sizes, levels of protection, and costs, each option has its advantages.
Indoor Storage
Want an enclosed space for your vehicle? Indoor vehicle storage is the option you want. At My Storage Group facilities throughout the nation, storage units with drive-up access can be used to store cars, motorcycles, and even small recreational vehicles. Pull the vehicle into the unit, close and lock the door, and you have a garage-like storage space that provides maximum protection from the elements. In most cases, a drive-up storage unit is the more expensive option for storing a vehicle.
Outdoor Storage
If you have a vehicle that’s too large to fit inside an enclosed storage unit, outdoor storage is a good alternative. Outdoor vehicle storage is a common solution for large boats, campers, trailers, and motorhomes, as well as some commercial vans and trucks. This option is typically available as a designated parking stall or an open parking lot at My Storage Group locations. While outdoor parking doesn’t provide coverage from the elements, it’s often a good option for cheap vehicle storage!
Covered Storage
Though not as commonly available at My Storage Group, covered vehicle storage is a good in-between cost solution. Covered vehicle storage is essentially outdoor parking with a protective roof, which provides some coverage from sun exposure and precipitation, and the price point generally falls somewhere in the middle of indoor vehicle storage and outdoor vehicle storage. This is a popular option for RVs and boats.
Our Mini Storage Lockers are small, affordable, and the perfect solution for small collectibles and personal storage. Lockers are available in upper and lower. Upper storage lockers require the rolling staircase.
A 5×5 unit can fit a dresser, a small mattress set, and several small to medium-sized boxes. This space is also perfect for garden tools, seasonal décor and sports equipment.
A 5×10 unit can fit the furnishings of a mid-sized bedroom, including a queen-sized bed, a dresser, a TV and several small to medium-sized boxes.
A 5×15 unit can fit the furnishings of a single bedroom, including a queen-sized bed, a dresser, a nightstand, golf clubs, a TV and several medium to large-sized boxes.
A 10×10 unit fits the contents of an entire family room or two full bedrooms, including several small to medium-sized boxes.
A 10×15 unit can hold about a two bedroom apartment’s worth of items, fit the contents of three full bedrooms and larger items such as a piano, couches, tables, or large-screen TVs, plus several medium to large-sized boxes.
A 10×20 can fit the contents of a multi-bedroom house, including several oversized items like a couch, a refrigerator, a washer/dryer and a dining room set or several large boxes.
A 10×25 unit can fit the contents of a fully furnished 3 bedroom house, including oversized items such as a couch, mattress sets, a dresser, a refrigerator, a washer/dryer, a dining room set, an entertainment center and several large boxes.
A 10×30 unit can fit the contents of a fully furnished 3-5 bedroom house, including oversized items such as a couches, beds, dressers, a refrigerator, a washer/dryer, a dining room set, an entertainment center and several large boxes.
Drive-up storage offers convenience and protection for your most valuable vehicles. This enclosed, garage-style parking has additional space to store other belongings, too.
Outdoor covered parking is a great way to help keep your car, boat, or trailer out of the elements. Covered parking and hook-ups are available at many locations.
Outdoor storage is ideal for personal vehicles such as cars, trailers, and even work equipment. This is a less-expensive option and is often more suitable for larger vehicles.

VEHICLE STORAGE GUIDELINES
If you plan to store a vehicle at an My Storage Group facility, you need to be prepared. Take a look at these general vehicle storage guidelines that apply to many, but not all, of our storage facilities. Always be sure to refer to your rental agreement for complete details as well.
- Wheels must be in good, working order on all stored vehicles.
- Vehicles must be driven into the storage unit, not towed or stored on blocks.
- Current registration and proof of insurance is required.
- Boats and RVs should have current license plates.
- Any tags that expire while in storage should be renewed.
- Trailers must be roadworthy.
- Tires must be inflated and inspected for signs of dry rot.
- Remove as much gasoline from the fuel tank as possible before storing.
- No repairs or extensive maintenance may be performed inside the storage unit.
- Car covers are recommended for vehicles stored outside and may be required for unsightly vehicles.
- Tire locks and tie downs are allowed for additional security.
If you need to store a vehicle long-term, check any fuel lines and gaskets before stowing your vehicle away. Lay down cardboard to protect the storage unit’s floors in case of any fluid leaks.
